Mercato Centrale at Bonifacio Global City

Inspired by a particular place in Florence, Italy, Mercato Centrale @BGC is the first of its kind in the Philippines. Organizers RJ Ledesma, Anton Diaz and Janice Crisostomo-Villanueva envision it as a lifestyle weekend market, a food and travel destination in Manila and a landmark in Bonifacio Global City (BGC).

Philippine local fruits

When Anton invited Pinoy Organics to be part of Mercato Centrale as early as July 2010, we readily said yes even if all he had that time was a concept and a project name that they eventually changed. One of the goals of Pinoy Organics is to bridge farmers and green entrepreneurs to their target market and through Mercato Centrale, farmers from Nueva Ecija, Quezon, and Laguna, and green entrepreneurs who are not yet in the mainstream, have a place to showcase their products.

We are looking forward to meet all the local organic producers and entrepreneurs who are participating in Mercato Centrale. Pinoy Organics will have its own organic section for farmers, local producers and green entrepreneurs we have featured, visited in their farms or facilities and/or products we have tried and tested. Our section is located at Tent 1 and as you enter, we will be there to welcome you to Mercato Centrale.

Here to share more about this exciting project are organizers, RJ and Anton:

Mercato Centrale will be launched to the public on November 21, 2010, Sunday, at 7am. We are still accepting organic producers to join our section, Pinoy Organics @Mercato Centrale. To get a stall or booth space, you can email us at pinoyorganics@gmail.com.

It is easy to find Mercato Centrale. If you know where Boni High Street is, you’re almost there. The market is going to be at the open lot at the back of The Spa. To make sure you won’t get lost, below is the map of the exact location of Mercato Centrale @BGC:

    I want more lesser known endemic fruits!

  2. Gulay Girl says:

    Jhoey, I’m with Fristine on this one. Do you know if any of the farmers are selling aratelis? b

  3. PinoyOrganics says:

    I haven’t encountered aratelis sellers, yet. When I was still a kid, I used to climb the tree, pick a basketful aratelis and put it in the freezer! It tasted like aratelis ice cream. Yummy!

  4. PinoyOrganics says:

    @Fristine I agree!

  5. Gulay Girl says:

    @Jhoey. Fun! We used to have a tree too. Aw. Good times.
