Yesterday, the Philippine organic community celebrated the launch of the newest weekend market in the metro – Mercato Centrale!

Mercato Centrale is inspired by the outdoor markets in Florence and the Boroughs Market in London and is an innovative weekend lifestyle market with unique great tasting food finds and diverse organic section in the metro.

When we got there around 5am, we were happy to see Costales Nature Farms‘ booth ready to serve with their fresh farm products all the way from Quezon! They had organic fruits, vegetables, chicken, duck, pork and rabbit.

Expat’s favorite, Leyende, was also there to make their presence felt.

Of course, one of the pioneers in natural household cleaning products, Messy Bessy, joined us in encouraging consumers to clean and green their homes.

For November, we invited two guest sellers.

Kitchen Herbs offers the widest herbs and spices selection we have ever seen in a weekend market. They supply top hotels and restaurants with their herbs, sprouts and all sorts of greens. For Mercato, they served the yummiest open-faced sandwich with 3 kinds of cheese, mixed greens and their special mix of balsamic vinegar.

Mercato-CabioKidCabioKid

CabioKid Foundation is a permaculture development site located on a 5,5 ha property in Cabiao, Nueva Ecija. For Mercato Centrale, they will be selling organic black and white rice, bamboo products, baskets and of course, vegetables from Cabiao, Nueva Ecija. Their black organic rice, when cooked, isn’t black. It has this dark pink color that looks beautiful even with ordinary vegetable stew like pinakbet. Kids love its taste, too!

Next time you drop by Mercato Centrale, visit Pinoy Organics section and all the other organic booths at Tent 1. We will continue to have surprise guest sellers and/or featured products from all over the Philippines every weekend. If you are interested to join our section, email us at pinoyorganics@gmail.com.

Mercato Centrale @BGC is located at the corner of 30th Avenue and 9th Street in the heart of Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. It will be open every Saturday and Sunday from 6am to 12 noon 2pm.

For December until February 2011, Pinoy Organics will organize activities and events to promote organic and green living in the Philippines. Is there any specific activity you want us to include and/or take note of?

May I know the prices of your organic products?

Hi Maricel. We do not sell ourselves but we have a network of organic and natural producers. We are no longer in Mercato but are excited about our upcoming projects, campaigns and events. Please add us in Facebook (pinoyorganics) so you don’t miss our updates.

    Thanks for dropping by.
