One of our primary goals of Pinoy Organics is to help bring the farm to consumers and vise versa. This year, we launched Market-to-Plate Tour, an out-of-the box food and travel event where consumers get the chance to meet local producers and other green consumers, discover organic and natural products, learn how to cook sustainable local produce and if you still have an extra hour or two, you get a chance to learn about urban gardening, too. All in one day.
For our launch last May 2010, we chose the South as our venue because for us, it is more challenging for city dwellers to believe that it is possible to live an organic lifestyle in the South.
We gladly and humbly proved them wrong.
We took them to a public market and two weekend markets, introduced them to our local producers,
shared about cooking using local sustainable ingredients via cooking demo and lunch, PLUS, a hands-on urban gardening workshop about herbs. We had so much fun!

Thought we’d share with you some of the feedbacks from our participants:
“It was the best day of my home-keeping life! To actually see organically-grownvegetables and food variety that are available here in our area (South) was amazing!
I learned a lot! I am thrilled to grow my own herbs, too!†– Shirley, wife, and mom of 4
“Very educational and informative.
I think the market is ready to go GREEN & HEALTHY!†– Christie, freelance writer
“Good presentation. The organization should be given credit
for promoting organic lifestyle in the city.†– Marianne, writer for Business Mirror
As if these encouraging words are not enough, we were surprised to open our Sunday Business Mirror dated June 6, 2010 and found an article about Pinoy Organics’ Market-to-Plate Tour:
Early this week, we were nominated as one of the Top 10 Emerging Influential Bloggers of 2010 by The Blogging Advertiser. Watch out for our own Top 10 list, too. Soon.
Again, thank you for all the encouragement for the past two weeks. We’re now all pumped up for the next upcoming Market-to-Plate Tours on June 26th, July 25th and August 29th.
Can you help Pinoy Organics win as one of the Top 10 Emerging Influential Bloggers of 2010?Â
nice photography here 😀
I support the ‘grow what you eat’ concept – we had a small backyard garden at home, where we used to get tomatoes and ampalaya or alugbati leaves for a monggo con tinapa lunch. yum!
