The sudden change of weather, lack of sleep, physical exhaustion from Christmas shopping, depression or a combination of any or all of the above can be the culprit to your sore throat. Your best remedy is to address your condition as soon as it shows up. Next to that is sleep. Get some rest and allow your body to recover naturally. Third is fresh or pwdered turmeric with a pinch of sea salt (not iodized salt). Turmeric is believed to be an antidote for anything that is inflammed. Salt is a natural antiseptic. Mixed together, these kitchen ingredients can help you bid sore throat goodbye.

HOW TO MAKE TURMERIC MOUTHWASH

1. Boil 2 cups of water with a thumb-size fresh organic turmeric.

2. The moment it starts boiling, turn off heat and transfer to a coffee mug.

3, Add a pinch of salt.

4. Let it cool a bit.

5. Tilt your head backwards until you feel the warm turmeric/ salt mouthwash in your throat. The hot-warm turmeric mouthwash is soothing to the sore throat but do not swallow it.

6. Gargle for 60 seconds every hour until symptoms are gone.

Depending on the severity of your sore throat, usually, improvement can be felt right after the first gargle. You can also drink fresh ginger tea or “salabat” in between your turmeric mouthwash.

Have you tried using turmeric in monggo soup?
