MARA PARDO DE TAVERA: Mother of Philippine Organic Market

Mara Pardo de Tavera believes that organic living is the way to achieve good health not only for us, but our planet as well. This belief gave birth to Mara’s Organic Market (MOM), the pioneer in organic markets in the Philippines.

In 1993, Mara’s concept of the organic market stemmed from a need to provide good food for their own family. Today, MOM still brings fresh produce and other food stuff such as organic vegetables, herbs and fruits, free-range chicken, to Makati and Alabang communities. MOM intends to continue as an open-air market, but in the near future, their plan is to establish a number of truly organic stores and restaurants all over the Philippines. She believes that the only way you can achieve this is by setting up MOM in every city in the Philippines.

We felt that Mara  should be the cover story for our launch week so we crossed our fingers and asked her for a video interview. Favor was granted and the result was a three-part video interview which we will be airing here in Pinoy Organics for three consecutive Thursdays starting November 26th.
